Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-17 · applies to the Android app (Google Play) and the iOS app (App Store)

Amethyst ("we", "our", "the app") is a free word-puzzle game. This page explains what data is collected when you use the app and how it is used. The same app, with the same privacy behaviour, is published for Android on Google Play and for iPhone and iPad on the App Store; where the two platforms differ, this page says so.

Data controller

The data controller responsible for this app is:
Jini Solutions
An independent studio run by a sole developer, who is the data controller as a natural person
Bucharest, Romania
Contact: hello@jini.solutions

Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information directly. The app does not require an account, does not ask for your name, email address, or any other identifying information, and does not transmit any gameplay data to our servers.

All progress (completed puzzles, settings, hint counts, your declared age band) is stored exclusively on your device — in the app's private local storage on Android, in the app's sandbox on iOS — and is never sent anywhere. Uninstalling the app removes it; so does Settings → Delete all local data inside the app.

Voluntary defect reporting. If you choose to report a technical issue, you may send an email to hello@jini.solutions. To help us investigate and resolve the issue, we recommend including some or all of the following — the choice of what to share is entirely yours:

This information is used solely to diagnose and resolve the reported defect. It reaches us through the jini.solutions mail forwarding service and is kept in the controller's own mailbox; it is not shared with any third party. You may request deletion of the email thread at any time by replying to it; please be aware that deletion is carried out immediately upon request but will permanently remove the correspondence and may prevent us from completing the investigation.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app displays advertisements served by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising network operated by Google LLC, on both platforms: one small banner, and a rewarded video you choose to watch. AdMob may collect and use data to serve personalised or non-personalised ads, including:

This data is collected and processed by Google under their own privacy policy. You can review it at policies.google.com/privacy.

Legal basis (EU/EEA/UK users): processing by AdMob is based on your explicit consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). On first launch you will be shown a consent dialogue powered by Google's User Messaging Platform, on Android and on iOS alike. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time from Top right corner → Manage ad consent.

If you decline personalised advertising, the app will display non-personalised ads instead and all features remain fully available.

Google platform services (Android)

On Android the app uses Google Play Services for standard functionality. Google Play Services may collect certain device and usage information as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

Apple platform services (iOS)

On iPhone and iPad the app runs on Apple's platform services. Apple may collect device and usage information as described in Apple's Privacy Policy. The app does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites (Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt is never shown), so the Identifier for Advertisers is not available to AdMob unless you have allowed tracking for all apps in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. You can also turn off personalised ads from Apple in Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising. The App Store listing carries the app's privacy "nutrition label", which summarises this page.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. On first launch the app asks which age band you are in; a player who declares 17 or younger is never shown the personalisation dialogue and receives non-personalised ads only. If you believe your child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at hello@jini.solutions and we will take prompt action to remove it.

Data retention

Because we do not collect personal data ourselves, there is no data held by us to retain or delete. Game progress stored on your device is deleted when you uninstall the app or choose Settings → Delete all local data. For data held by Google (AdMob / Play Services), refer to Google's data retention policies; for data held by Apple, to Apple's.

Your rights (EU / EEA / UK — GDPR)

Because the app keeps everything on your device and we hold no copy, you can exercise most rights yourself, at once, without asking us:

RightWhat it meansWhat to do
Access
Art. 15
Know whether we hold data about you, and get a copy. For app data: it is all on your device; the Settings page shows it. For an email you sent: you can keep a record of the thread.
Rectification
Art. 16
Have inaccurate data corrected. App data: change it in the app. Email data: reply with the correction.
Erasure
Art. 17
Have your data deleted. App data: uninstall, or Settings → Delete all local data. Email data: reply and ask us to delete the conversation. Google's ad data: withdraw consent in the app, and use Google's data-deletion tool.
Restriction
Art. 18
Pause the use of your data while a dispute is settled. Reply to your email and ask; we stop using the thread until it is resolved.
Portability
Art. 20
Receive your data in a machine-readable form. App data never leaves the device, so there is nothing to export from us. Email data is already in the email conversation thread.
Objection
Art. 21
Object to processing based on legitimate interest, including profiling for ads. Select non-personalised ads at Top right corner → Manage ad consent, or turn off ad personalisation in your device's settings.
Withdraw consent
Art. 7(3)
Take back the consent you gave for personalised ads, at any time. Top right corner → Manage ad consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that happened before it.
Complain
Art. 77
Complain to a supervisory authority. Romania: Autoritatea Națională de Supraveghere a Prelucrării Datelor cu Caracter Personal (ANSPDCP). In another EU/EEA country, your national authority.

How we handle requests by email. Write to hello@jini.solutions. We acknowledge within 5 business days and answer within 30 calendar days (Art. 12(3)). We may ask you to confirm you are the person the request concerns. Where a request concerns data held by Google, we forward it using Google's User Data Deletion tools.

Requests we may decline. Under Art. 12(5) we may refuse to act on, or charge a reasonable fee for, a request that is manifestly unfounded or excessive, in particular because it repeats an earlier one. We do not answer messages that are abusive, threatening, or unrelated to this app. Where we refuse a request, we tell you that we are refusing, why, and that you may complain to the supervisory authority named above or seek a judicial remedy (Art. 12(4)). If a sender's messages meet the Art. 12(5) criteria, we reserve the right to block further communication from that sender, for example by adding the sender's address to our spam filter; a genuine request sent afterwards from another address is still handled under this policy.

Your rights (California — CCPA)

California residents may opt out of the sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. To do so:

We do not discriminate against users who exercise their CCPA rights. All app features are equally available regardless of ad consent choice.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
