Day OK ("the app") is a calendar-and-clock app for Android TV, Google TV, tablets and phones, published on Google Play by Jini Solutions ("we"). This page explains what the app does with your information. In short: the app collects nothing, sends nothing and shares nothing. Everything it reads or stores stays on your device. It reads the calendars on your device to show them, and keeps an encrypted copy there so that they appear at once; Android syncs your calendars as it always does (see Your calendars below).
Data controller
The data controller responsible for this app is:
Jini Solutions
An independent studio run by a sole developer, who is the data controller as a natural person
Bucharest, Romania
Contact: hello@jini.solutions
No internet access
The app does not have Android's internet permission, so it cannot connect to the internet or send any data off your device. Your calendars reach the device through the device's own calendar sync (for example your Google account's sync), as they do for any calendar app; the app only reads what is already on the device.
Your calendars
With your permission (Android's calendar permission, asked at first start), the app reads the calendars and events stored on your device and shows them on screen. You choose which calendars it shows.
- The app never adds, changes or deletes events.
- The only change it can make to your calendars is the one you ask for: if you press Turn on sync on a calendar marked "Not synced", the app switches that calendar's sync on in the device's calendar settings. It asks for the permission this needs only when you first press that button.
- To show your dashboard at once when it starts, the app keeps a copy of the events of its last load (time, title, colours and calendar; never locations, descriptions or attendees) and the year view's monthly counts, in one encrypted file in the app's private storage on your device. It is encrypted with a key held by Android's secure key store, which cannot be exported. This copy is replaced on every load and deleted when you withdraw the calendar permission or deselect all calendars.
You can withdraw the calendar permission at any time in your device's settings (Settings › Apps › Day OK › Permissions).
Demo calendar
If you switch on Demo calendar (Settings › Calendars in the app), the app adds a few made-up calendars with made-up events, in the app's language, so you can try every view. They exist only inside the app: nothing is written to your calendars, nothing is synced and nothing is sent anywhere. Switch it off and they are gone.
Settings stored on your device
Your choices (which calendars to show, language, clock format, theme, background, screen-on times and similar settings) are stored in the app's private storage on your device. If you give a name to one of your own event colours, that name, and the identifiers of the events that carry it (numbers only, never titles), are stored there too. Nothing of this leaves the device.
The app is excluded from Android's cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, so neither your settings nor the encrypted copy are uploaded to a backup. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage (Settings › Apps › Day OK › Storage › Clear storage), deletes everything the app has stored.
Other permissions
- Sync status (read sync settings and statistics): to show whether your calendar sync is on and when it last ran.
- Network state: to show "Cannot sync" while the device is offline. It only reads whether the device is connected; it gives the app no internet access.
- Keep awake: to keep the screen on during the times you choose.
No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no crash reporting
The app contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking tools and no third-party software that collects data. It has no account and no sign-in. If the app meets an error, it counts only the type of the error, in memory, to show it on its own Diagnostics page; nothing is written to disk or sent anywhere.
Buying the app
You buy the app on Google Play, at one price with everything included: there are no in-app purchases. Google processes the payment under its own privacy policy. Google gives developers limited order information, such as an order number, the country and the price, which we use only for accounting, tax and refund matters as the law requires. On Google Play the app is bound by the Google Play User Data policy.
Android and Google Play may collect technical data about apps on your device (for example crash and performance statistics, if you allowed usage and diagnostics sharing). This is done by Google, under Google's policies, not by the app.
If you write to us
The app's Contact and feedback page (Settings › About, and the end of Help) can prepare an email to hello@jini.solutions. It does not send it: it opens your own email app with the message filled in, and nothing is sent unless you press Send there. You can also copy the address or scan the page's QR code with your phone.
Before you send, the page shows exactly what the prepared message contains, and you can untick any of these optional details:
- the app's settings (values only, never calendar names, event titles or your colour names)
- the device's name, make and model
- the Android version
- the app version
- your language and regional settings
They help us answer questions about a particular TV or phone.
When you send us an email, we receive your email address and what the message contains, use them only to answer you and to fix problems you report (our legitimate interest in answering you, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)), do not share them, and delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed (at most two years after the last message), unless the law requires us to keep it longer. It reaches us through the jini.solutions mail forwarding service and is kept in the controller's own mailbox. Your email provider handles the message under its own privacy policy.
The app's Download link page only shows the app's Google Play address as text and as a QR code; the app opens nothing and sends nothing.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children. It does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (the standard set by the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule, 16 CFR Part 312) or under the age set by the law of your country.
Data retention
Because the app collects no personal data, there is nothing held by us to retain, except an email you choose to send us (see above). What the app stores on your device is deleted when you uninstall it or clear its storage.
Your rights under the GDPR (EU, EEA and UK)
These rights come from the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679; in the United Kingdom the UK GDPR keeps the same rights. Because the app keeps everything on your device and we hold no copy, you can exercise most of them yourself, at once, without asking us:
- Delete everything the app knows: uninstall the app, or clear its storage (Settings › Apps › Day OK › Storage › Clear storage). Nothing survives on our side, because nothing ever reached us.
- Stop the app reading your calendars: withdraw the calendar permission in your device's settings, or deselect the calendars in the app.
- If you have emailed us: your message and anything you attached is the only data we hold. Reply to that email and ask us for a copy, a correction, or to delete the conversation.
| Right | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Access Art. 15 |
Know whether we hold data about you, and get a copy. | App data: it is all on your device, and the app sends none of it to us. An email you sent: ask us for a copy of the correspondence. |
| Rectification Art. 16 |
Have inaccurate data corrected. | App data: change it in the app's Settings. Email data: reply with the correction. |
| Erasure Art. 17 |
Have your data deleted. | App data: uninstall the app, or Settings › Apps › Day OK › Storage › Clear storage. Email data: reply and ask us to delete the conversation. |
| Restriction Art. 18 |
Pause the use of your data while a dispute is settled. | Reply to your email and ask; we stop using the thread until it is resolved. |
| Portability Art. 20 |
Receive your data in a machine-readable form. | App data never reaches us, so there is nothing to export from us. Email data is already in the email conversation thread. |
| Objection Art. 21 |
Object to processing based on legitimate interest. | The only processing on our side is answering the emails you send us. Reply and object; we stop and delete the conversation. |
| Complain Art. 77 |
Complain to a supervisory authority. | Romania: Autoritatea Națională de Supraveghere a Prelucrării Datelor cu Caracter Personal (ANSPDCP). In another EU/EEA country, your national authority; in the United Kingdom, the ICO. |
How we handle requests by email. Write to hello@jini.solutions. We acknowledge within 5 business days and answer within 30 calendar days (Art. 12(3)). We may ask you to confirm you are the person the request concerns. For data Google holds about your purchase or your Google account, act directly in Google Data & Privacy.
Requests we may decline. Under Art. 12(5) we may refuse to act on, or charge a reasonable fee for, a request that is manifestly unfounded or excessive, in particular because it repeats an earlier one. We do not answer messages that are abusive, threatening, or unrelated to this app. Where we refuse a request, we tell you that we are refusing, why, and that you may complain to the supervisory authority named above or seek a judicial remedy (Art. 12(4)). If a sender's messages meet the Art. 12(5) criteria, we reserve the right to block further communication from that sender, for example by adding the sender's address to our spam filter; a genuine request sent afterwards from another address is still handled under this policy.
Your rights under the CCPA (California)
The app collects no personal information, and we do not sell or share personal information (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.100 et seq.). An email you send us is used only to answer it.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes what it does with data, we will update this page before that version is released and change the effective date above. A change that would send data off your device would be described in the app's store listing too.
